1962 - 1973

1963-1972 – while growing up, Doug starred in 4 sports – was an all star goalie in hockey – played all star baseball for 9 years where he was a key member of teams that won 5 Ontario Baseball Association championships and he personally attracted attention of major league scouts – quarterbacked CKSS football teams to 1 junior championship and 1 senior championship which was the school’s only one for 25 years – was named all star quarterback in 1970  – was named an all star in basketball for 4 consecutive years – scored 55 points, which is still a record, in one game against Kingsville – was tournament all star for 3 years in Jaycee Blue and White Tournament – was named CKSS Athlete of the year in 1969 and was inducted into the CKSS James Dean Hall of Fame in 1973


1972 - 1979

1972 – signed contract to play professional baseball in Pittsburgh Pirate organization – at Bradenton in Florida Rookie League – pitched in only 20 innings due to arm trouble

1973 – Niagara Falls (A) – record 1-3 in 48 innings – released due to arm problems which also caused him to sit out the next season

1975 – paid own expenses to go to New York Yankees training camp – signed contract – at Fort Lauderdale (A) – record 6-4 in 34 games with 1.62 ERA, 3rd best in league

1976 at Fort Lauderdale – record 7-6 in 142 innings with 2.20 ERA, 5th best in league

1977 – signed AAA contract – played at West Haven (AA) – record 8-2 in 140 innings with 3.30 ERA, 5th best in league

1978 – at West Haven – record 8-2 – retired from active playing due to frustration over not advancing in Yankee organization

1979 – went into administrative side of baseball and has risen to be a Vice President and General Manager of the Texas Rangers
