Career

Beginning in 1977 – was President of Maple City Slo-Pitch League for over 40 years

Beginning in 1984 – was Executive Member of Slo-Pitch Ontario Association (SPOA) for over 30 years

Beginning in 1984 – umpired slo-pitch for over 30 years

1997 – umpired in Ontario Special Olympics Summer Games

1999 – invited to umpire at World Special Olympics Summer Games in Raleigh, N.C.

1989-1993 – coached Senior Men’s (50+) Slo-Pitch team

1993 – team came third in their division at the Canadian National Championships in and played in the Senior World Championship in Greensboro, NC

1996-2000 – coached a team in Ladies Division of Maple City Slo-Pitch League

Beginning in 1991 – was Executive Member of Softball Ontario for over years

1992-1997 – President of Slo-Pitch Ontario

Voting delegate of Softball Canada

Beginning in 1998 – Treasurer of Slo-Pitch Ontario Association for over 20 years


Awards & Recognitions

1998 – received Appreciation Award from Maple City Slo-Pitch for over 20 years of service

1999 – received Slo-pitch Ontario Association Appreciation Award for 15 years of service

1999 – received certificate from Meritor Automotive for Community Participation

1999 – inducted into Slo-Pitch Ontario Association Hall of Fame (Builder Category)

2006 – received Sly Apps Special Achievement Award for contributions to amateur sport in Ontario



In addition, Bob refereed in Chatham Minor Hockey for many years and coached In Chatham Minor Baseball for three years. In his community he has served on the Centennial Clock Committee and the Municipal Alcohol Policy Committee for Chatham-Kent.
