Jamie was born in Chatham in 1973 and has lived here all his life. He began boxing at age 11 and continued very successfully for over 10 years through the junior, intermediate and senior divisions of Boxing Ontario. Along the way Jamie won 4 Ontario Junior Championships, 2 Ontario Intermediate Championships, 2 Ontario Senior Championships, and 1 Canadian Junior Championship. In addition he boxed in many other tournaments in Ontario and the United States including winning 2 Detroit Golden Gloves Championships and 2 Detroit Diamond Glove Championships.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

1984 – 1989

1984 – began boxing at the age of 11

1986 – was Ontario Junior Champion at age of 13 – April 4th, received Good Sport of the Week Award from CFCO Radio, Chatham

1987 – was Ontario Junior Champion – place 2nd at Bramalea Cup which is the largest amateur boxing tournament in Canada

1988 – was Ontario Junior Champion – named Boxing Ontario Athlete of the Month for June

1989 – was Ontario Junior Champion – was Ontario Winter Games Champion

– received National Achievement Award from Ontario in recognition of Distinguished Performance in the Field of Amateur Sport


1990 - 1993

1990 – was Ontario Intermediate Champion – won 2nd place at Canadian Intermediate Championship – won 3rd place at Ontario Senior Championship – was Detroit Golden Gloves Champion and was Detroit Diamond Gloves Champion

1991- was Ontario Senior Champion – won 2nd place at Canada Winter Games
– was Bramalea Cup Champion – was 3rd at Canadian Intermediate Championships receiving Outstanding Achievement Award from East London Boxing Association

1992 – was Ontario Senior Champion – won Detroit Diamond Gloves Championship for second time

1993 – won 3rd place Ontario Senior Championship – won Detroit Golden Gloves Championship for second time


Jamie received his Level II NCCP Coaching certification and until recently was head coach at the Chatham Kayo Boxing Club.
