Ron was born in Chatham, attended Ste-Catherine
Separate School, and then Chatham-Kent Secondary School
from 1972 to 1977. While at CKSS he excelled in
volleyball, track and field, and particularly basketball.
After graduation Ron attended St. Mary's University in
Halifax where he won individual and team honours during
his 4 years of basketball. He represented his province and
his country as a member of provincial and national
basketball teams.
